Loving Older Orphanage Kids (LOOK Project)

Domestic and international adoption finds homes for only a small number of the abandoned and mostly young children living in Chinese orphanages. Once a child has reached about 7 years old, his or her chances of ever being adopted are even further reduced. While a few are placed with foster families, most the of the older children in SWIs, many of them with special needs, reside in the orphanages grouped with similar-aged boys and girls until they are 17 or 18 years old. The LOOK Project is intended to send love and care to these children.

The mission of the LOOK Project is to provide older children growing up in Chinese orphanages with the health, skills, and knowledge they will need to eventually function as independent, productive, and healthy adults when they leave the orphanages.
